Just up the hill from GWH, you'll find yourself in Liddington and this pub growing in reputation since a change of management in June 23. Ideal for a lunchtime meal and their Sunday Lunch.

7 miles east and set in a lovely village not far from Shrivenham. The terrace here makes a lovely spot for eating & drinking al fresco + tables at the front, too. Beautifully decorated inside (especially the main restaurant room) you'll find a proper, real fire when it's chillier and food that makes it properly worth the trip.

Wanborough can get overlooked being so close to Swindon, but it does have this pub that's been popular for years. Two gardens - one very family friendly at the back - with new pods open at the front, it's certainly a summer favourite. Open-plan interior and Italian-styled 'front bar' restaurant room offers plenty of options inside. With a menu entitle 'Eat Around the World' you'll be sure to find something for everyone.

Nice and easy, this one, just off Junction 15, M4 and with a lovely view of Liddington Hill. Dog friendly on the bar side, you'll find a menu packed with pub classics and, if it's an early bite you're wanting, a breakfast menu sure to hit the spot.

Not the biggest pub in the world, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in flavour. Probably the best fish and chips this side of Devon & Cornwall, there's plenty more on the menu to tempt you to find this gem, also just off Junction 15, M4. Just drive up the hill towards Marlborough and take a left after 400 yds. Booking ahead is wise.

Head to the hills (or the White Horse Hill to be precise), ladies & gents, and you'll find one of the cutest, most historical pubs in old England where you can enjoy homemade pizza in the garden (Thursday & Sunday evenings) & drinks. An oak beamed interior, as you would expect, and a great fire in autumn & winter makes this a proper pub for all seasons. Booking recommended.

Now this is as far east as we go on swindonpubs.com - but the trip is worth the view (in summer, anyway). Here you can see The White Horse at Uffington on a nice day, which, allied to a great menu, means this pub take a lot of beating. Lovely inside, too, with a Garden Room very handy if it starts raining.

If you like things organic, then this is your stop-off. A genuinely unspoilt and much-loved pub which the Michelin Guide recommend for its good food. But it has even more to offer in the summer months because of its front terrace & friendly little garden where you can enjoy weekend barbecues - and even camp with pigs in late August!
