Pubs Worth The Drive

Get the engine started and try these pubs just EAST of Swindon

Some say the best thing to come out of Swindon is the A420 or the M4 - a bit harsh, we think, but certainly correct when it comes to finding some lovely pubs to enjoy life.

So buckle up and take a short drive to try these pubs EAST of Swindon. All ideal for a mid-week bite, afternoon stop-off, Sunday lunch or just for getting out of the house and exploring the wonderful countryside right on Swindon's doorstep.

The Rose and Crown Inn, Ashbury

7 miles east and set in a lovely village not far from Shrivenham. The terrace here makes a lovely spot for eating & drinking al fresco + tables at the front, too. Beautifully decorated inside (especially the main restaurant room) you'll find a proper, real fire when it's chillier and food that makes it properly worth the trip.

Some pubs boast about their food being homecooked - but this really is the real thing. And excellent value, too. Always a very good range of vegetarian and gluten-free dishes on the specials as well. Find it just off the A420, past Sainsburys in Stratton and look for the sign on the left.

The Bakers at Badbury

Badbury, Near Swindon, SN4 0EU

Not the biggest pub in the world, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in flavour. Probably the best fish and chips this side of Devon & Cornwall, there's plenty more on the menu to tempt you to find this gem, also just off Junction 15, M4.
